Call of the Canyon Cabins are at the foot of Mt. Evans at 8,900' above sea level in Arapaho National Forest. West Chicago Creek, which originates in the Mount Evans Wilderness Area, runs only 25 feet from the cabins and is filled with pan sized rainbow trout. (BUT DON'T YOU DARE CATCH HAL, our mascot!).

Conveniently located 6 miles south of Interstate 70 & just off Mt. Evans Scenic & Historic Byway near Idaho Springs, Colorado.  Idaho Springs is said to be named after Chief Idahoe & the healing waters of the natural mineral hot springs nearby, which were considered sacred to both the Mountain Ute and Arapaho Indian tribes. This is where the Colorado Gold Rush began in 1859Idaho Springs is an historic, Victorian-era mountain community where you can still explore working mines and pan for gold and gemstones. Or, take a drive up "Oh My Gawd Road", the hair-raising shortcut to nearby Central City, another historic gold rush town known as the "richest square mile on earth".  Along with it's neighbor Black Hawk, they are two of only three Colorado towns which offer legalized gambling at over 25 casinos to choose from. And don't overlook the famous Central City Opera House and it's world renowned summer performances.

In addition to offering easy access to world class downhill skiing at your choice of Loveland, Keystone, Winter Park, Arapaho Basin, Breckenridge & Copper Mountain (all are just 20 to 50 miles away), you can cross country ski and snowshoe right outside your door. Call of the Canyon Cabins are the perfect spot for hiking, Mt. biking, fishing, birding, or just plain relaxing.
